News Powers to Present Moreno with Lifetime Achievement Award at L.A.’s Tony Party Stefanie Powers will present Rita Moreno with The Julie Harris Award for Lifetime Achievement at the annual Tony Awards Party.

On June 8, Moreno — an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony award winner — will receive the Julie Harris Award on behalf of Hollywood’s theatrical community at the seventh annual Tony Awards Party. The annual West Coast celebration at the Skirbill Center benefits Aid for AIDS and The Actors’ Fund of America. Jennifer Tilly will host the event, and those scheduled to attend include Jim J. Bullock, Francis Fisher, Dick Gautier, Jason Graae, Henry Polic II, Sharon Lawrence, Benito Martinez, Marcia Rod, Mathew St. Patrick, Bruce Vilanch and Rachel York. The event begins at 3:30 PM with cocktails and a silent auction, followed by dinner and a live telecast of the 57th Annual Tony Awards at 5 PM. The awards presentation to Moreno begins at 8 PM; previous recipients of the Julie Harris Award include Gwen Verdon, Charles Durning, Tyne Daly, Lauren Bacall and Carol Channing.

A native of Humacao, Puerto Rico, Rita Moreno won the Academy Award for her role as Anita in the film version of West Side Story. She earned a Best Featured Actress in a Play Tony for her work in Broadway's The Ritz and nabbed two Emmys: one for a guest appearance on "The Muppet Show" and another for a stint on "The Rockford Files." She was awarded the Grammy for her performance on "The Electric Company" album for children. Moreno most recently starred on the acclaimed HBO series “Oz.”
