News Pratchett's Nation to Be Screened Internationally Jan. 30 The National Theatre's world-premiere production of Terry Pratchett's Nation, adapted by Mark Ravenhill, will be screened globally Jan. 30.

Broadcast as part of the NT Live initiative, the live performance of Nation will be screened locally at New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Skirball Center for the Performing Arts and Time and Space Hudson at 2 PM. Melly Still directs a cast that features David Ajala, Gaye Brown, Gary Carr, Paul Chahidi, Elaine Claxton, Adrian Decosta, Mike Denman, Lorna Gayle, Nancy Wei George, Howard Gossington, Tony Hasnath, Rob Hastie, Michelle Lukes, Nick Malinowski, Michael Mears, Itxaso Moreno, Al Nedjari, Nicholas Rowe, Sirine Saba, Gurpreet Singh, Craig Stein, David Sterne, Emily Taaffe and Jason Thorpe.

According to press notes, "The year is 1860, and a devastating tsunami has stranded young Daphne on a strange island a thousand miles from her comfortable homestead. She soon encounters Mau, a native islander, whose village has been destroyed in the disaster. Together, they must teach each other and the villagers how to survive against the elements, fend off local enemies, and overcome their own differences."
