Naked Angels artistic director Nauffts penned the work, which officially opens June 3 and runs through June 21 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theatre. (Next Fall was previously announced as part of the Naked Angels season under the title The Gospel According To Adam.)
Sheryl Kaller (Dangerous Beauty) directs a cast including Patrick Breen (Fuddy Meers, Brighton Beach Memoirs), Maddie Corman (Isn't It Romantic, "Some Kind of Wonderful"), Sean Dugan (Corpus Christi, Rough Crossing), Patrick Heusinger ("Gossip Girl," Spamalot), Connie Ray (The Heidi Chronicles) and Cotter Smith (An American Daughter).
Nauftts' work asks, "What happens when a Christian gives an Atheist the Heimlich?" The play, according to press notes, "chronicles the five-year relationship between Adam and Luke as they wrestle with their respective demons. Timely and compelling, the play places the Prop 8 controversy in a human context by exploring what it means to 'believe' in this day and age, and what it might cost us not to."
Designing the production are Wilson Chin (scenic design), Jessica Wegener (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design) and Bart Fasbender (sound design).
