News Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical Likely to Shutter in West End The London run of Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical is likely to shutter at the Palace Theatre by year's end.

According to a press statement, "The producers of Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical made the decision to inform the London cast and crew of the likelihood that the show would end its three year run in the West End at the end of 2011. No formal notice has been given." This was in striking contrast to the recent announcement of the closure of Love Never Dies at the Adelphi Theatre, where the news was available via the media before the company had been formally advised.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical opened at the West End's Palace Theatre in March 2009, after a prior Australian run in Sydney. Written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott and directed by Simon Phillips, the show is based on the Oscar-winning film "The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert," which starred starring Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce.

The West End run is currently officially booking for performances through Jan. 7, 2012. To book tickets, contact the box office on 0844 755 0016, or visit www.priscillathemusical.com.
