News Producer/Author Vy Higginsen was Born to Sing Vy Higginsen, producer and co-author of the hit off-Broadway show Born to Sing, has stepped into the role of the narrator in the gospel/R&B musical. She had previously taken on the role once before with her hit Mama I Want to Sing! to which Born to Sing! is a sequel.

Vy Higginsen, producer and co-author of the hit off-Broadway show Born to Sing, has stepped into the role of the narrator in the gospel/R&B musical. She had previously taken on the role once before with her hit Mama I Want to Sing! to which Born to Sing! is a sequel.

Explains Higginsen, "I've been watching the show over the last couple of months and have been itching to get back on the other side of the footlights, where I was for all those years with Mama. I always love to come face to face with the audience."

The show is currently playing at the Union Square Theatre (100 East 17th Street at Park Ave. south) until January 5 whereupon it will embark on a 16-city national tour with stops in Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Along with Higginsen, the musical also stars Lisa Fischer, Tanya Blunt, Kellie D. Evans and Kim Summerson and features Charles Stewart and the New York Reach Ensemble.
