Michael Greif, who staged the world premiere of the play at the Guthrie Theater in 2009, also directs the Off-Broadway bow of the four-hour work (presented with two intermissions), in which a family patriarch gathers his own children around him to vote whether or not he should commit suicide.

The Intelligent Homosexual's Gude will officially open May 5 for a run through June 12 in the Newman Theater. The Public and the Signature Theatre co-present the New York bow.

The cast includes Cristofer, Emond, Esper, Spinella, Steven Pasquale, K. Todd Freeman, Hettienne Park, Molly Price, Matt Servitto, Danielle Skraastad and Brenda Wehle.

Cristofer, Emond, Esper and Spinella originated their roles in the Guthrie world premiere in 2009.

Here's how The Complete Homosexual's Guide is billed: "In the summer of 2007, Gus Marcantonio, a retired longshoreman and cousin of the late New York Congressman Vito Marcantonio, summons his three adult children to the family’s Brooklyn brownstone - to vote on the question of his committing suicide. The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide… explores revolution, radicalism, marriage, sex, prostitution, politics, real estate, unions of all kinds and debts both unpaid and unpayable." The production has scenic design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Kevin Adams, sound design by Ken Travis, music by Michael Friedman and fight direction by Rick Sordelet.

A Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner for Angels in America, Kushner also penned Short Talks on the Universe, A Bright Room Called Day, Slavs!, Hydriotaphia, Homebody/Kabul and the book to the Tony-nominated musical Caroline, or Change. The Signature Theatre Company is currently presenting repertory productions of Angels in America Off-Broadway. His adaptations include Corneille's The Illusion, S.Y. Ansky's The Dybbuk, Brecht's The Good Person of Sezuan and Mother Courage.
