The play about two DREAMers in contemporary America completes its run at Berkeley Rep.

Sanctuary City finishes its West Coast premiere, which began July 8, at Berkeley Repertory Theatre August 14. The production is presented in association with Arena Stage.

Hernán Angulo, María Victoria Martínez, and Kim Fischer, all 2022 graduates of the American Conservatory Theater MFA program, star in the show, which tells the story of two DREAMers negotiating the promise of safety and the weight of responsibility in America

Written by Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok (Cost of Living), the production is directed by David Mendizábal (Notes on Killing Seven Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Board Members), who leads a creative team that includes scenic and costume designer David Reynoso, lighting designer Cha See, sound designer Fan Zhang, and associate director Cara Hinh. Sanctuary City is presented in association with Arena Stage.

The work previously made its world premiere at Off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop in 2020. Check out photos from the production here.
