Hall once shared the Broadway stage with an "Idol" winner, Fantasia Barrino, who spent several months in The Color Purple. The 12 contestants who will now vie for the "America Idol" title are Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Katie Stevens, Lacey Brown, Lee Dewyze, Michael Lynche, Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus and Tim Urban.

Among the many "American Idol" finalists and/or winners who have appeared on Broadway are Diana DeGarmo (back to Broadway in Hair), Tamyra Gray, Constantine Maroulis (on Broadway in Rock of Ages), Frenchie Davis, Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks.
