Broadway News Quentin Earl Darrington Returns to Broadway’s Once On This Island March 16 Tony nominee Norm Lewis, who stepped into the run in January, played his final performance March 7.

Quentin Earl Darrington rejoins the company of the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of Once On This Island March 16 at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Darrington originated the role of Agwe in the Broadway return of the Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty musical, and was on leave of absence from the production since early January.

Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis temporarily stepped into the run during Darrington’s hiatus.

Once On This Island also stars newcomer Hailey Kilgore as Ti Moune, with Miss Saigon Tony Award winner Lea Salonga (Erzulie), Glee groundbreaker Alex Newell (Asaka), American Idol's Tamyra Grey (Papa Ge), Tony nominee Phillip Boykin (Tonton Julian), Kenita R. Miller (Mama Euralie), Isaac Powell (Daniel), Alysha Deslorieux (Andrea), and David Jennings (Armand).

Once On This Island unfolds as a group of storytellers—caught in the midst of an unrelenting storm—recount the tale of Ti Moune, a Caribbean island country girl in love with an aristocrat who is sent on a transformative journey by the gods.

The Michael Arden-helmed staging officially opened December 3. The musical features a book and lyrics by Ahrens and music by Flaherty, the Tony-winning writing team behind Ragtime and Anastasia.
