Quiz Quiz: Same Story, Different Title

Using a plot synopsis clue, identify both the play and its (differently-named) musical adaptation.

It's no secret that musicals often source other media for their plot lines: short stories (Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof), poetry (The Wild Party, Cats), novels (The Phantom of the Opera; Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812), and movies (Mean Girls, The Producers, Moulin Rouge!), for example.

This quiz will look at musical adaptations that borrowed their stories from plays. We'll give you the plot synopsis and you name both the play and its musical adaptation. We didn't want to make it too easy, though, so we only selected works in which the title was changed for the adaptation.

Click through the gallery below and see how many plays and musical adaptations you can identify.
