Hunter Foster, the actor who has starred in Broadway musicals including Urinetown, Little Shop of Horrors, and Million Dollar Quartet, has been focusing on his directing career this year. Next up: his annual staging of The Rocky Horror Show at Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania October 13–29.

Foster has directed Bucks County Playhouse productions of Clue, Guys and Dolls, and Million Dollar Quartet, and he’s scheduled to stage Goodspeed Opera House’s December 2017 production of A Connecticut Christmas Carol.

Randy Harrison, best known for playing Justin on Showtime’s Queer as Folk, will make his Playhouse debut in the role of as Dr. Frank ’N’ Furter. The cast also includes several actors returning to The Rocky Horror Show from past Playhouse productions including Nick Adams (Broadway’s Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as Rocky, Nick Cearley (BCP’s Buyer & Cellar and The Skivvies) as Brad, Katie Anderson as Columbia, and Danielle Diniz as a Phantom. They are joined by Playhouse Rocky first-timers Catherine Ricafort as Janet, Van Hughes (Broadway’s American Idiot and Spring Awakening) as Riff Raff, Olivia Griffin as Magenta, Jeff Hiller as Narrator/Dr. Scott/Eddy, and Julian Ramos as a Phantom.

The Rocky Horror Show, with book, music, and lyrics by Richard “Ritz” O’Brien, began its life as an off-West End curiosity in London in the early 1970s. After attracting a devoted following, the show was produced on Broadway in 1975 with O’Brien, Tim Curry and Meat Loaf. Despite a short 45-performance run, it was adapted as a film with several members of the Broadway and London casts. The movie version found a cult audience at midnight showings in the U.K. and the U.S. The story follows innocent couple Brad and Janet as they seek shelter at a mysterious old castle on a dark and stormy night, where they encounter transvestite alien Dr. Frank N Furter, his “perfect” creation Rocky, and an assortment of other “creatures of the night.”
