News Randy Newman Will Star in Concert Version of His Faust Musical for City Center Encores! Off-Center Season A one-night-only concert version of Randy Newman's Faust will be part of the City Center Encores! Off-Center summer season.

Faust The Concert will be presented July 1. Grammy, Oscar and Emmy-winning singer-songwriter Newman will play the devil in his darkly hilarious modern-day take on the Faust story. Additional casting will be announced at a later time.

The musical has seen several incarnations at such venues as La Jolla Playhouse, in 1995, and the Goodman Theatre, in 1996. Michael Greif directed both productions. The musical shows the story as the result of a bet between God and Lucifer, as they try to see whether a single man — Henry Faust, portrayed as an egomaniacal football player – can keep to the straight and narrow.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public March 17 at 11 AM ET.

The complete Off-Center season will be announced shortly, according to a City Center spokesperson.
