Produced by Lindsay Roth and Cheryl Roth, the 5:30 PM-6:30 PM evening features direction by Tom Gilroy.

The cast boasts David Alan Basche, Alysia Reiner, Jessica Blank, Peter Hermann, Erik Jensen, Lucy McMichael, Victoria Cartagena and Jeff Pucillo.

The reading will be followed by a brief question-and-answer session.

"Wonder Drug," according to press notes, "is inspired by the true story of DES, seen as a medical miracle to help women with pregnancy issues and a cash cow for pharmaceutical companies upon its creation in 1938. However, by 1971, the reality of what the consequences are for taking badly tested, yet FDA approved, drugs like DES and the corruption of the pharmaceutical industry behind it becomes apparent. This is a hot-button issue that the public needs to be made aware of, because similar things are happening with drugs today. Set in Boston, Massachusetts, 'Wonder Drug' interweaves the lives of a Big Pharma executive, feminist doctor, and thirtysomething newlywed across different decades."

Manhattan Theatre Club is located at 311 West 43rd Street, 8th Floor (between 8th and 9th Avenue). Those interested in attending the reading, which has limited space available, should e-mail [email protected] or visit www.facebook.com/wonderdrugthemovie.
