News Readings of New Musical Far From the Madding Crowd Will Include Elena Shaddow, Ben Crawford, Robert Petkoff and More Industry readings of the new musical Far From the Madding Crowd will be presented Oct. 20-21 in midtown Manhattan.

Giovanna Sardelli will direct with musical direction by John O'Neill. Jayne Ackley Lynch Productions, Inc. is producing.

The cast will be headed by Elena Shaddow with Jeremy Hays, Ben Crawford, Samantha Hill and Robert Petkoff as well as Mary Stout, Joseph Dellger, Jonathan Hadley, Kenneth Boys, Hollis Scarborough, Aaron Riesebeck, Jennifer Babiak and Julie Benko.

Adapted from Thomas Hardy’s novel, the show features a score by Gary Schocker and book and lyrics by novelist Barbara Campbell.

Far From the Madding Crowd, according to press notes, "charts the journey of Bathsheba Everdene (Elena Shaddow), a young woman struggling to make her own way in a world that rigidly dictates women’s roles and behavior, and her relationships with the 3 men who love her; Gabriel Oak (Jeremy Hays), Sgt. Frank Troy (Ben Crawford) and William Boldwood (Robert Petkoff)."

Niko Companies are the general managers, and Robin Carus is the casting director. Pamela Edington will be the stage manager.
