News Real Love, With Betty Buckley, Shirley Jones, Cady Huffman, Adam Pascal, Will Be Broadcast Sept. 26 The world premiere of The Real Love: A New Musical, which was presented Aug. 27 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, will be rebroadcast on Supreme Master Television in nine parts, beginning Sept. 26, with multi-language subtitles.

Directed by LA Drama Critics Circle Award winner Chris Shelton, the production starred Tony winner Daisy Eagan, Tony winner Cady Huffman, Tony nominees Adam Pascal and Robert Torti and actress-singer Joanna Ampil.

Special guest stars included Tony winner Betty Buckley, Italian classical/pop star Filippa Giordano, Oscar winner Shirley Jones, Emmy-winning singer Faith Rivera and Drama Desk Award-nominated soprano Lynne Wintersteller as well as Tom Schmid and Tony winners Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish.

Guest speakers for the afternoon included Ed Begley Jr., Grant Aleksander, Kristin Bauer, Elaine Hendrix and Hayley Marie Norman.

The Real Love features music by Emmy winner Bill Conti, two-time Oscar winner Al Kasha, Emmy nominee Doug Katsaros, Tony and Emmy winner Don Pippin and Oscar and two-time Grammy winner David Shire. Lyrics are based on the poetry of Supreme Master Ching Hai, renowned spiritual leader, humanitarian poet and artist.

The new musical, according to press notes, is inspired by a true story about a "woman who is deeply in love with her equally tender husband, a doctor. But as their happy marriage blossoms, a calling propels her to make a heartrending decision - remain with her beloved or sacrifice everything in search of happiness for all humanity. In what seems a destined journey, she embarks on travels through India and the Himalayas, encountering adventure, danger, and surprises along the way. The unforgettable story is sure to bring tears, laughter, and poignant memories for audiences of all backgrounds."

The two-part evening also included a concert by singer/songwriter Don McLean and his band.
