The work, directed by Shakina Nayfack with musical direction by Jeremy Lyons, was recently seen in a concert reading at the National Opera Center in New York City. Junk was also seen at the Malmö Symphonic Orchestra in Sweden as well as in an extended Los Angeles workshop.

The Joe's Pub cast includes Miguel Cervantes (Giant, American Idiot), Christina Sajous (Forever Dusty, Spider-Man, American Idiot), Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot, Passing Strange), Tony Vincent (American Idiot, Jesus Christ Superstar), Dan Domenech (Rock of Ages), Alysha Umphress (American Idiot, Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Katrina Rose Dideriksen (Pregnancy Pact, Bloodsong of Love), Freddie Kimmel (Superfly), Jeremy Morse (The Trouble with Doug, Bloodsong of Love), Mike Backes (Jersey Boys Las Vegas), Ashkon Davaran, Paul Louis Lessard, Frank Viveros, Ashley Beth Rose and Onyie Nwachukwu.

Junk is, according to director Nayfack, "part social satire, part love story, and part existential allegory. The show takes place in a near-future urban wasteland run by Junk Incorporated. Anna, a Junk employee, dreams of starting a revolution with her all-girl rock band, the MetroJets."

The band features Lyons (piano), Austin Moorhead (guitar), Christopher Bastian (bass), Jeff Roberts (drums), Renia Shukis (violin) and Bjorn Berkhout (cello).

Brainpool, whose members include Christoffer Lundquist, David Birde and Jens Jansson, originally released Junk – A Rock Opera as a double-disc concept album on Playground Records in 2004. The show premiered in concert with the Malmö Symphonic Orchestra in Sweden in 2005, and is currently being developed for theatrical production with director Nayfack, who has also worked with the band to expand the libretto and score since its 2007 Los Angeles workshop. Joe's Pub is located at 425 Lafayette Street. For more information and tickets call (212) 967-7555 or visit JoesPub.com.
