Variety reports that Diggs will play attorney Kevin Hill in a Mel Gibson-produced drama, which is simply titled "Kevin Hill." Although Diggs played a brief stint on the FOX series "Ally McBeal," this is the first time the actor has committed to a regular role in a TV series. According to the industry paper, Diggs' character "suddenly finds himself charged with raising his cousin's daughter." The drama is being written and executive produced by Jorge Reyes. Taye Diggs has appeared on Broadway in Wicked, Carousel, Rent and Chicago. He received an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for his performance in Off-Broadway's The Wild Party, and his film credits include "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," "The Best Man," "The Way of the Gun," "House on a Haunted Hill," "The Wood," "Go," "Brown Sugar" and "Chicago."
In related news, Diggs recently completed filming the independent thriller "Slow Burn." That film co-stars LL Cool J, Mekhi Phifer and Ray Liotta. Variety also reports that Diggs will play journalist Henry Nxumalo in the upcoming drama "Drum."
