A reading of the new musical Gay Grimms, a finalist in the Stages 2007 competition in Chicago and the 2006 Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center Music Theatre Conference, will be presented June 23 at the Arden Theatre in Philadelphia.

Presented by the Philadelphia Gay Lesbian Theatre Festival, the one-night-only event will feature the talents of Rachel Coloff, Alicia Irving, Jillian Louis, Austin Murphy, Randy Redd, Jana Robbins and Cole Burden. Michael Bush will direct the 8 PM performance with musical direction by Mark Janas. Gay Grimms was penned by Ted Sod (libretto), Dan Martin (music) and Michael Biello (lyrics). The musical, according to press notes, concerns "Leon and Jackie, the Cousins Grimm, adapting their ancestors' beloved stories and adding a queer sensibility to them. Jackie is a celebrated lesbian composer/solo artist. Leon asks her to work with him and she impulsively agrees. Strange and magical things begin to happen as their versions of the tales come to life; including a mysterious and surprising twist to their creative collaboration."

The Arden Theatre is located at 40 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia, PA. Call (215) 922-1122 for reservations.
