Directed by Trip Cullman, the production will officially open Jan. 20 and continue through Feb. 15 at Atlantic Stage 2.

"Ella is a precocious and fiercely competitive actress whose sole aim in life is making her famous playwright father David proud," press notes state. "Over the course of a boozy, drug-fueled evening, Ella and David deliberate over whether to read the reviews of her Off Broadway debut… and things unravel from there. Halley Feiffer's dark, probing and very funny new play pulls the audience into the middle of a deeply complicated relationship and sheds new light on the eternal struggles of parents and children to find common ground."

Birney recently starred in Casa Valentina on Broadway, and his stage credits include Picnic, Uncle Vanya and Circle Mirror Transformation. He also appears in "House of Cards." Gilpin has performed in Where We’re Born, Heartless and We Live Here. Her screen credits include "Nurse Jackie" and "The Good Wife."

I'm Gonna Pray For You So Hard  features scenic design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Ben Stanton and sound design by Daniel Kluger.

Atlantic Stage 2 is located at 330 West 16th Street. Visit atlantictheater.org for more information.
