Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark officially opened on Broadway June 14 at the Foxwoods Theatre after going on a three-week hiatus during which the creative team made changes to the musical, including rewrites to the original book by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger, as well as additional and reworked songs from Bono and the Edge.

Here, Spider-Man star Reeve Carney talks to MTV News about the musical number "Rise Above," recently released as a single and performed on the "American Idol" finale May 25 at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre.

Carney discusses the song, calling it the Spider-Man mantra, and feels that the final version, performed on the "Idol" finale, not only relates to Peter Parker, but applies to a broader audience as well.

Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark stars Carney as Peter Parker, Jennifer Damiano as Mary Jane and T.V. Carpio as Arachne.
