International News Regent's Park Open Air Theatre to Present World Premiere of Bear Snores On

The stage adaptation of Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman's children's book will open the venue in spring 2024.

London's Regent's Park Open Air Theatre will present the world premiere stage adaptation of Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman's Bear Snores On. The production will run March 23-April 21, 2024, making it the venue's first outside of its traditional summer season.

Bear Snores On features a book by Cush Jumbo and Katy Sechiari and music and lyrics by Harry Blake. The production will invite theatregoers ages four and up to visit a new indoor pop-up space within the theatre grounds.

“Cush, Katy, and Harry’s wonderful adaptation of Bear Snores On continues our commitment to creating exceptional, enriching, and unexpected theatre for young people and their families; we could not be more delighted to be staging the piece at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre next spring," Artistic Director Tim Sheader and Executive Director James Pidgeon said in a joint statement. "This project also marks a significant organizational moment for us, as it is the first time in our 91-year history that we will be producing a live theatre experience at the Open Air Theatre outside of our May-September summer season. We cannot wait for you to join us.”

Jumbo and Sechiari will co-direct the production. The creative team also includes musical director Harry Blake, movement director Ebony Molina, set and costume designer Rebecca Brower, lighting designer Joshie Hariette, casting director Lotte Hines, puppet designer and director Maia Kirkman-Richards, and sound designer Luke Swaffield.
