Directed by Max Friedman, the cast includes Liz Lark Brown, Beth Dimon, Henry Gainza, John Herrera, Noah Zachary and Alix Paige.

According to press notes, "The show features six actors who play a multitude of relatable characters, all struggling to find love and acceptance, or the nearest available substitute. Whether acting out lustily at a party, running into an ex in a public place and saying all the wrong things, pleading insanity to keep a relationship from ending, or simply enjoying a nice, quiet self-pity party at home, these people all long to feel, in the words of the opening song, 'something like okay.'"

The Longing and the Short of It also features musical director Paul Reekie on piano, Julie Jacobs on drums, Dave Wilkinson on bass and Bob Bunin on guitar.

Maté is the recipient of the 2013 Kleban Prize for Most Promising Musical Theatre Lyricist. He also received the Jonathan Larson Grant and the ASCAP Foundation's Cole Porter Award in 2010 for his music and lyrics. The Longing and the Short of It was also presented at Barrington Stage (directed by William Finn).

The Theatre at Arts Garage is located at 180 NE 1st Street in Delray Beach, FL. For more information and tickets, call (561) 450-6357 or visit ArtsGarage.org.
