News Rent Goes Dutch and Tops Netherlands' Musical Awards The Netherlands' equivalent of the Tony Awards, the John Kraaijkamp Musical Theatre Awards were handed out during a televised ceremony April 20. The Netherlands' equivalent of the Tony Awards, the John Kraaijkamp Musical Theatre Awards were handed out during a televised ceremony April 20. Viewers were treated to excerpts from the upcoming Dutch productions of Saturday Night Fever and Titanic, as well as a performance by Heather Headley and Adam Pascal of Aida, which will open in The Netherlands in October.

The Dutch version of Jonathan Larson's musical Rent was the top winner taking home three awards. The awards cover musicals only, and the public votes (through Kampioen magazine) for the Best Musical from all 17 eligible tuners.
