The "Law & Order" actor will co-star opposite Grant Gustin in the CW pilot, which is based on the DC comic.
The Warner Bros. TV-Berlanti Productions project, Deadline.com reports, concerns "Barry Allen aka The Flash (Gustin), a Central City assistant police forensics investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past."
Martin has been cast as the blue-collar Detective West, who is a surrogate father to Allen.
The pilot was penned by "Arrow" co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and series writer Geoff Johns.
Martin, who has been seen on NBC's "Law & Order," has also appeared on Broadway in Timon of Athens, The Government Inspector and The Merchant of Venice. The actor will next be seen as the late R&B singer Marvin Gaye in the feature film "Sexual Healing."
