Leung, who is taking a break from the tour to film the pilot, will play the role of Kevin, "an aspiring dancer auditioning for the Paige Academy of the Performing Arts," according to press notes. "Kevin has run away from his gay-bashing hometown in the midwest and has no where to go if he doesn't make it into the Academy." In the "Limelight" pilot, "a group of young hopefuls — dancers, musicians and actors — spend a grueling weekend auditioning their hearts out for a chance to win a place in New York City's prestigious Paige Academy of Performing Arts."

The pilot will also feature such Broadway folk as Sharon Leal (Miss Saigon, Rent), Kyle Riabko (Spring Awakening) and Daniel Davis (La Cage aux Folles).

David Semel will direct "Limelight" for ABC and Bonanza Productions.

Telly Leung, who was a member of the final cast of Broadway's Rent, made his Main Stem bow in the revival of Flower Drum Song and then appeared in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Pacific Overtures. He spent a year playing Boq in the Chicago production of Wicked, and his other theatrical credits include Zanna, Don't!; Thoroughly Modern Millie; The King and I; Jesus Christ Superstar; Children of Eden; Sweeney Todd; and Godspell. Leung can be heard on the "Wall to Wall Stephen Sondheim" recording, and his debut EP is titled "Getaway." The actor is also a co-founder of the fledgling Jaradoa Theatre Company and was seen in the Philadelphia Theater Company's production of M. Butterfly.
