The casting of Tony-winner Beach was expected. The second lead of Georges is yet to be cast. Producers have reportedly been looking for a star player.

Beach won his Tony for playing the swishy hack director Roger De Bris in the smash musical The Producers. Prior to that, his best known role was Lumiere, the amorous candelabra in Beauty and the Beast.

La Cage is the smash 1983 Jerry Herman-Harvey Fierstein musical about family, parents, a St. Tropez nightclub and being who you are. It will be directed by Jerry Zaks and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.

La Cage aux Folles will not be returning to its Broadway birthplace, the Palace — a much-speculated idea — but will fill the Marquis Theatre, starting previews Nov. 7 toward a Dec. 9 opening.
