The producers of CBS's "Chicago Hope" are planning an episode of the show to be done mostly as a musical, Variety reports.

In the proposed musical episode, which Variety said may open the season, Dr. Aaron Shutt (Adam Arkin) suffers an aneurysm and while in a coma he sees life as a musical.

Variety reports that sources say Tony-winner Mandy Patinkin would definitely be coming back to sing several songs. Some say other cast members will lip-synch well-known songs while others claim cast members Mark Harmon, Christine Lahti, Peter Berg and Hector Elizondo are considering doing their own singing.

No word on who would be composing the new songs.

Playbill On-Line is seeking to confirm this story.
