Sarah DeLappe’s award-winning play The Wolves begins performances November 1 at Lincoln Center Theater’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. The play returns Off-Broadway after two acclaimed engagements at The Duke on 42nd Street last fall.
The Wolves will officially open November 20.
Set on an indoor soccer field, the play details the experiences of high school girls as they prepare for their game—from politics, sports, and history to family, friendship, and everything in between.
Directed by Lila Neugebauer, the play was originally produced last year at The Duke on 42nd Street by The Playwrights Realm in association with New York Stage & Film and Vassar’s Powerhouse Theatre season. It subsequently returned to the Off-Broadway venue with additional support from commercial producers Scott Rudin and Eli Bush.
The cast of the LCT run includes original cast members Tedra Millan (Present Laughter), Sarah Mezzanotte (Six Degrees of Separation), Mia Barron, Brenna Coates, Jenna Dioguardi, Samia Finnerty, Midori Francis, Lizzy Jutila, and Susannah Perkins. Paola Sanchez Abreu completes the cast.
The Wolves was a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The production won an OBIE Ensemble Award—for Neugebauer and the acting ensemble—and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble. The play received nominations for the the Lucille Lortel Award, the Drama League Award, and the Outer Critics Circle Award.
The LCT production features scenic design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, and sound design by Stowe Nelson.
