Broadway-aimed stage musical The Devil Wears Prada officially opened its world premiere run at Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre August 7, and the reviews are in! Performances began July 19 and are set to continue through August 21.

Based on the 2006 film and 2003 novel, The Devil Wears Prada follows the fictional Runway Magazine, run by the ruthlessly exacting Miranda Priestly, and Andy Sachs, who starts her career there as Priestly's assistant. The musical adaptation features a score with music by Elton John and lyrics by Shaina Taub (Suffs) and a book by Kate Wetherhead (Submissions Only). Tony winner Beth Leavel and Taylor Iman Jones lead the cast as Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs, respectively. Anna D. Shapiro directs.

Joining Jones and Leavel are Javier Muñoz (Hamilton, In the Heights) as Nigel Owens, Christiana Cole as Lauren, Megan Masako Haley (Wicked, Mean Girls) as Emily Charlton, Tiffany Mann (Be More Chill, Waitress) as Kayla, Michael Tacconi (The Cher Show) as Nate Angstrom, and Christian Thompson (Ain’t Too Proud) as Christian Thompson.

The creative team also includes music supervisor Nadia DiGiallonardo (Waitress), choreographer James Alsop (Beyoncé's "Run the World," Girls5Eva), costume designer Arianne Phillips, scenic and media designers Christine Jones (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and Brett Banakis (The Cher Show), lighting designer Paule Constable, and sound designer Nevin Steinberg (Hadestown, Hamilton). Orchestrations are by Giles Martin.

Paul Rudnick, previously announced to co-write the musical's book with Wetherhead, has departed the production.

The project is produced by Kevin McCollum and Rocket Entertainment / David Furnish, and presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.
