In a departure from previous years, Richard III will first launch in London June 18-Sept. 11, 2011, followed by an international tour and a Jan. 10-March 4, 2012, engagement at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The first two seasons of The Bridge Project originated at BAM.

In July representatives for the three-year venture announced that the third and final year of the Bridge Project would be delayed in order to accommodate Mendes' directing schedule.

The Bridge project is a collaboration between BAM, The Old Vic (where Spacey serves as artistic director) and Mendes' Neal Street Productions. Mendes and Spacey previously collaborated on the film "American Beauty." Both earned Academy Awards for their work on the iconic film. Richard III marks their first stage collaboration.

The cast of Richard III, which will comprise both American and British actors, will be announced at a later date.

The Bridge Project launched in 2009 with the double bill of The Winter's Tale and The Cherry Orchard. The 2010 component included As You Like It and The Tempest.
