Richard Kind will be the next allergist in Broadway's The Tale of the Allergist's Wife beginning May 28, when Rhea Perlman steps into the title role and Marilu Henner joins the troupe as an old friend of Perlman's character.

The current cast, including Valerie Harper, Michele Lee and Tony Roberts, exits May 26 and heads to Los Angeles prior to a yearlong tour which has Harper as the headliner.

Lynne Meadow directed the Off-Broadway debut of the comedy by Charles Busch at Manhattan Theatre Club prior to the hit move to Broadway. Performances continue at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

Kind is the larger-than-life character actor known as Paul on TV's "Spin City." His regional stage credits include The Big Knife and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at Williamstown Festival Theatre; Power Failure at Actor's Studio Free Theatre; Once Upon A Lifetime at the Guthrie Theatre and more. His TV credits include "Mad About You," "Carol and Company," "Blue Skies," "A Whole New Ballgame" and "UNSUB."

The Tale of the Allergist's Wife is the longest-running comedy currently playing on Broadway. It focuses on Marjorie Taub, "an Upper West Sider who is in the throes of a mid-life crisis. A strangely familiar visitor arrives and wreaks havoc in her life." Producers are Manhattan Theatre Club (Lynne Meadow, artistic director; Barry Grove, executive producer), Carole Shorenstein Hays, Daryl, Stuart Thompson and Douglas S. Cramer.
