Classic Arts News Richard Tucker Foundation to Present Gala Concert in Malta (Simulcast to Washington, D.C.) The Richard Tucker Music Foundation will present "Opera Across the Atlantic," a gala concert, on May 28 at the 18th-century Teatru Manoel in Valletta, Malta.
The lineup features Neil Shicoff, Daniela DessÐ, Fabio Armilato, Maureen O'Flynn, Angela Marambio, Kate Aldrich, Quinn Kelsey, Patrick Carfizzi, Scott Hendricks and Lina Tetruashvili under the baton of Eugene Kohn. The concert, a benefit for Community Chest Fund of Malta (under the patronage of Edoard Fenech-Adami, president of the Republic of Malta) represents the third time the Tucker Music Foundation has held events abroad; the previous two events were in Florence and London.

"Opera Across the Atlantic" is the brainchild of Michael Sonnenreich, a Tucker Foundation board member and former president of the Washington National Opera, and his friend John Lowell, Malta's former ambassador to the United States.

The concert will be simulcast live to George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

Dedicated to maintaining the legacy of the great American tenor through grants and awards to promising American opera singers, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation has given away more than $2 million in the past 32 years to further the careers of young American singers. Last month the Foundation presented its annual Richard Tucker Award, worth $30,000. to 36-year-old tenor Brandon Jovanovich.
