Wilson is associate director at Sheffield Theatres, but is appearing onstage for the first time there. In the play, he plays Krapp, sitting alone on his 69th birthday listening to a tape recording he made 30 years earlier. The production will be directed by Polly Findlay, who previously directed A Taste of Honey at the Crucible and whose recent credits elsewhere include Protest Song at the NT Shed, War Horse in Berlin, Proof at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Antigone at the National Theatre.
Wilson's other recent stage work as an actor includes A Little Hotel on the Side (at the Theatre Royal, Bath) and Twelfth Night (for the RSC at Stratford-upon-Avon and in the West End).
