Clubbed Thumb, an edgy Off-Broadway troupe, will produce the world premiere of Groff's What Then, beginning Jan. 7 at Soho's Ohio Theatre. Opening is Jan. 9. Hal Brooks, who directed Wil Eno's Thom Pain, will stage the work.
Clubbed Thumb produced an early version of Rinne Groff’s Inky back in 1999. (That play has had two full New York mountings since then.)
The one-line description of the play runs: "A woman becomes an architect and builds a dream house, but only in her dreams."
The Obie-Award-winning Clubbed Thumb was founded in 1996 by artistic directors Maria Striar and Meg MacCary. Productions have included Gina Gionfriddo's U.S. Drag, Lisa D'Amour's 16 Spells to Charm the Beast, Rinne Groff's Jimmy Carter Was a Democrat and Erin Courtney’s Demon Baby.
