Presented by The Blank Theatre Company, the musical opens Oct. 12 at the California company's 2nd Stage Theatre on Theatre Row in Hollywood. Kirsten Sanderson directs the work slated to run through Nov. 18.

Suggested by the short stories of Deborah Eisenberg, Little Fish follows "Charlotte [Ripley], a young writer of short stories, [who] confronts her past, present and future in post 9/11 Manhattan. She quits smoking and embarks on a modern day odyssey as she attempts to fill her nicotine-starved days with swimming at the Y," as show notes reveal.

Ripley (Side Show, Sunset Boulevard, The Rocky Horror Show, James Joyce's The Dead) will be the central character in the big-city musical from the composer of The Wild Party and First Lady Suite. Joining the actress are Jbara (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Victor/Victoria) and Kimball (Into the Woods, Lennon). Robert Torti (Smokey Joe's Café, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) will also be featured in the ensemble with Dina Morishita, German Santiago, Samantha Shelton and Brooke Tansley.

The Blank 2007-08 season began with EM Lewis' Heads and continues beyond Little Fish with Daniel Henning's Dickie & Babe: The Truth About Leopold & Loeb.

David O will serve as music director for Little Fish with music supervision by Brad Ellis. Orchestrations are by Bruce Coughlin. Jane Lanier choreographs. The design team features Adam Rigg (set and lighting) and Bethany Jane Bohatila (costume). The production stage manager is Sarah Teich.
