Les Waters (Fêtes de la Nuit, Finn in the Underworld, Big Love) directs the work which began April 6 and opened April 11 at the California company's Thrust Stage for a run originally slated through May 31.
In its initial extension, the show "which has attracted rave reviews, standing ovations, and sold-out houses," as release stated, stretched its run through June 18. The company now adds more performances through July 2, when the show must close.
"At Berkeley Rep, I feel like a wanderer who has finally come home," remarked Moreno in a previous statement. "For the second time I have the great good fortune to team up with a director whom I respect and admire and be offered a play that I have always longed to perform… Lightning does strike twice in the same place!"
Moreno appeared last season at Berkeley Rep in Master Class. She now returns as the matriarch Amanda in the St. Louis-set drama about son grappling with the decision to leave his sheltered sister with their mother.
The cast features Emily Donahoe (Honour, Apparition) as Laura, Erik Lochtefeld (Metamorphoses, Secret in the Wings) as Tom and Terrence Riordan (A Naked Girl on the Appian Way) as The Gentleman Caller. Moreno won a Tony Award for The Ritz, an Academy Award for "West Side Story," Emmy Awards for "The Muppet Show" and "The Rockford Files" and a Grammy for "The Electric Company" album. Among her numerous credits are the film "Casa de los Babys," the HBO series "Oz and stage turns in She Loves Me, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Odd Couple and Sunset Boulevard.
The design team for The Glass Menagerie includes Scott Bradley (scenic), Lydia Tanji (costume), Matt Frey (lighting) and Peter Golub (sound and composer). The stage manager is Cynthia Cahill.
