News Rita Moreno to Guest Star on "Ugly Betty" in May; Machado, Gayheart, Too Stage and screen legend Rita Moreno will guest star on an upcoming episode of the ABC comedy "Ugly Betty," the network announced April 11.

The episode titled "A Tree Grows in Guadalajara," which will air in May, will also feature guest appearances by Justina Machado (The Mambo Kings, "Six Feet Under") and Rebecca Gayheart (Steel Magnolias, "Vanished"). The series airs Thursdays at 8 PM ET; check local listings.

Moreno and Machado will play long-lost Suarez family members Aunt Mirta and Cousin Clara that "Betty (America Ferrera) and her family encounter on a trip home to Mexico." Gayheart will play a woman Romijn's character previously dated.

Ferrera — recently seen Off-Broadway in Dog Sees God — stars as the title character in "Ugly Betty" with a cast that also includes Eric Mabius, Alan Dale, Tony Plana, Ana Ortiz, Ashley Jensen, Becki Newton, Mark Indelicato, Michael Urie, Kevin Sussman, Rebecca Romijn and Kiss of the Spider Woman and Into the Woods veteran Vanessa Williams.

Moreno won a Tony Award for The Ritz, an Academy Award for "West Side Story," Emmy Awards for "The Muppet Show" and "The Rockford Files" and a Grammy for "The Electric Company" album. Among her numerous credits are the film "Casa de los Babys," the HBO series "Oz" and stage turns in The Last of the Red Hot Lovers and The Odd Couple. She recently starred at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Master Class and The Glass Menagerie. She is next slated to star in the west coast premiere of the Peter Quilter comedy Glorious! at Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
