News Rivera to Lead Marian Anderson Gala Honoring Cosby Two-time Tony Award-winning actress Chita Rivera will host the Marian Anderson Award gala honoring comedian Bill Cosby April 6 in Philadelphia.

Rivera, a longtime friend of Cosby's, will be part of the 8:30 PM evening that will feature the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of James DePriest (the nephew of Marian Anderson) and musical director Thomas Wilkins. Scheduled to perform are opera singer Denyce Graves, jazz vocalist Lizz Wright, comedian David Brenner, pop group Boyz II Men and jazz musicians Bootsie Barnes and Tony Williams.

Founded in 1998 in the memory of late singer Marian Anderson, the awards honor artists whose humanitarian efforts benefit society. Previous honorees include Maya Angelou and Norman Lear, Richard Gere, Sidney Poitier, Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover, Quincy Jones, Elizabeth Taylor, Gregory Peck and Harry Belafonte.
