The evening will be hosted by Atlantic founding member Felicity Huffman, star of TV's "Desperate Housewives," who is married to Macy. Attendees can expect "a roast and toast to the lives of these prolific artists and the accomplished history" of the award winning company that operates in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.
Both Mamet and Macy will be in attendance and each plans to "honor" the other. Additionally, guest celebrities and members of Atlantic's acting ensemble will take part in the celebration and roast.
Guests at the gala will include Steve Martin, Julia Stiles, Bob Balaban, Lynn Redgrave, Camryn Manheim, Famke Janssen, Elijah Wood, Gordon Clapp, Liev Schreiber, CNN anchor Paula Zahn, Larry Bryggman, Isiah Whitlock, Jr., Patti LuPone, Joel Grey, Chris Bauer, Rebecca Pidgeon, Jeffrey Tambor, Julianna Margulies, Kathryn Erbe, Clark Gregg, Jennifer Grey, Giancarlo Esposito, Matt Blank, Court TV's Josh Sappen, among others.
The Gala begins at 6:30 PM with cocktails, music and a silent auction; followed by a 7:30 PM dinner and a 9 PM tribute and performance including musical guests, a short retrospective film and celebrity guest performers.
Atlantic Theater maintains an ensemble of actors, writers and directors. In addition to founders David Mamet and William H. Macy the ensemble includes founding members Felicity Huffman, Clark Gregg, Mary Steenburgen, Kristen Johnston, Giancarlo Esposito, Chris Bauer and Camryn Manheim among others. Atlantic's 2004-05 season's productions includes David Mamet's world premiere comedy Romance, Woody Allen's world premiere play A Second Hand Memory, Tina Howe's world premiere translations of Ionesco's The Bald Soprano & The Lesson and Tom Donaghy's world premiere adaptation of Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard starring Brooke Adams and Scott Foley.
Individual tickets to the gala are $500 and $1,000, with tables available for groups. Funds raised support Atlantic's new play development and education programs.
