News Rob Ashford Will Stage Broadway Revival of Cat On a Hot Tin Roof Tony Award winner Rob Ashford will direct a Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, which will be produced by Tony Award winner Stuart Thompson, according to an Equity casting notice.

Previous reports state that Tony Award winner Scarlett Johansson will star as Maggie, with actors Chris Pine or Jeremy Renner in the running to play Brick. Official casting has not been announced.

The creative team is currently only seeking actors for the roles of Gooper and Mae. The latest casting notice indicates that rehearsals will begin in November under Ashford's direction.

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof will mark the director-choreographer's directorial debut of  a non-musical production on Broadway. He is known for his work on How to Succeed in Business; Promises, Promises; as well as Evita; Curtains; and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Ashford previously staged A Streetcar Named Desire and Anna Christie at the Donmar Warehouse.

A theatre and dates of production have not been announced.

Thompson also produced the revival of A View From the Bridge, which featured Johansson in a Tony-winning performance as Catherine.

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof was last revived in 2008 with an all-African American cast led by Terrence Howard and Anika Noni Rose. A 2003 revival starred Jason Patric and Ashley Judd.
