News "Rock of Ages" Motion Picture Soundtrack Will Have Digital Release in May The original motion picture soundtrack of "Rock of Ages," the upcoming film based on the Broadway musical of the same name, will be available for digital download from iTunes in mid-May, according to film director Adam Shankman's Twitter account.

"The @rockofagesmovie soundtrack will come on itunes mid may," tweeted Shankman (@adammshankman). "If you preorder, u will immediately get an advance track. It will blow ur mind." The recording will be released by WaterTower Music for purchase in stores June 5.

As previously reported, "Rock of Ages," is scheduled to hit theatres June 15. Shankman directs and choreographs the star-studded Warner Bros./New Line feature that filmed this year in Miami.

"Rock of Ages" stars Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, Malin Akerman as Constance, Russell Brand as Lonny, Diego González Boneta as Drew, Alec Baldwin as Dennis, Julianne Hough as Sherrie Christian, Mary J. Blige as Justice, Paul Giamatti as the manager of the rock band, Bryan Cranston as The Mayor and Tony winner Catherine Zeta-Jones as the wife of the mayor.

The musical, which uses hits from the 1980s as its score, premiered Off-Broadway at New World Stages in October 2008 and transferred to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway in March 2009. 

Rock of Ages earned five Tony nominations including Best Musical, Best Direction, and Best Actor for Constantine Maroulis. The production is currently playing at the Helen Hayes Theatre. Learn more about Rock of Ages at the Playbill Vault.
