News Rock Tuner Raindogs, Based on Wilson's Balm in Gilead, Sings Oct. 16 Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson's Balm in Gilead hits the street with a new beat in the developmental musical Raindogs, which is presented Oct. 16 at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, NY.

Co-composer and book writer Andrew MacBean

Rose Martula and Andrew MacBean, along with Wilson, penned the book to the musical that has a rock score by MacBean, Paul Chant and Boko Suzuki.

MacBean directs and Suzuki serves as musical director for the Bay Street workshop, which is presented to the public at 8 PM.

The workshop cast includes Alyssa Fox, Martina R. Sykes, Jo Lampert, Kelly Felthous, Anthony Lee Medina, John Jeffords, Gabreille Garza, Jimmy Kilduff, Mike Wartella, Patrick Oliver Jones, Nick Blaemire and Lucas A. Wells.

Balm in Gilead, which marked Wilson's first full-length play, tells of drug dealers, prostitutes and other denizens of Manhattan's Upper West Side who are struggling to connect.

Raindogs was first workshopped as part of London's MAD Fringe Festival in 2008.

Wilson's plays also include Tally's Folley (Pulitzer Prize), The Rimers Of Eldritch, Lemon Sky, Serenading Louie, The Hot L Baltimore, The Mound Boulders, Angels Fall, 5th Of July, Talley & Son, Burn This, Redwood Curtain, Trinity, A Sense Of Place Or Virgil Is Still The Frogboy, Sympathetic Magic and Book Of Days.
