News Rocky Horror Picture Show: A Tribute to Play Universal Studios Hollywood Universal Studios Hollywood will present Rocky Horror Picture Show: A Tribute — part of the Halloween Horror Nights series — beginning Oct. 2.

Per an agreement between the theme park and Twentieth Century Fox's Licensing & Merchandising Division, the 16-performance run will "bring the musical mayhem of the classic horror spoof to life on-screen and on-stage with live performers singing and dancing in the celebrated, outrageous 'Rocky Horror' costumes," according to a press statement.

The tribute will be interactive, featuring audience participation.

Larry Kurzweil, president and chief operating officer, Universal Studios Hollywood, said in a statement, "Bringing film experiences to life is the essence of what we do at Universal Studios Hollywood and this classically edgy movie and its passionate following are a perfect fit for this year's ground-breaking Halloween Horror Nights event."

Howard Nelson, vice president Worldwide Promotion for Fox Licensing, added, "'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' is more than a film, it's become a cultural touchstone in American entertainment and this new attraction is yet another testament to its strengt. This tribute extends our relationship with Universal Studios Hollywood, which continues to do a great job translating our properties for live audiences."

The Rocky Horror Show bowed in London in 1973. It played Broadway's Belasco Theatre from March 10, 1975 through April 5, 1975, with a cast led by Tim Curry, Jamie Donnelly and Meat Loaf. The 1975 film also cast Curry as Frank-N-Furter opposite Susan Sarandon's Janet Weiss and Barry Bostwick's Brad Majors. The recent, Tony-nominated revival at New York's Circle in the Square Theatre boasted a cast that comprised Dick Cavett, Lea DeLaria, Jarrod Emick, Tom Hewitt, Joan Jett, Alice Ripley, Daphne Rubin Vega, Raúl Esparza, Sebastian LaCause and Kevin Cahoon.
