News Roland Goes from Jimmy to Graydon in North Shore Thoroughly Modern Millie Richard Roland, who played leading man Jimmy Smith in both the Broadway and national touring companies of Thoroughly Modern Millie, will be seen in a different role when the Tony-winning musical opens at the North Shore Music Theatre.

Roland told Playbill.com that he will be playing Millie's employer, Trevor Graydon, in the upcoming production at the Massachusetts theatre. "I've accepted the offer to play Trevor Graydon," said Roland. "Now I get to see the show from a different angle!" As previously announced, Beth McVey will play the evil Mrs. Meers in the North Shore production, which opens the theatre's 2005 season. Barry Ivan will direct the Jeanine Tesori-Dick Scanlan-Richard Morris musical that made a Broadway star out of Little Women's Sutton Foster. Millie will play April 26-May 15. The staging represents the first licensed, resident-produced production of the Tony-winning musical that has been seen on Broadway, in London and on tour.

Additional casting is expected shortly.

Richard Roland has been seen on Broadway in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Follies and The Scarlet Pimpernel as well as in the national tour of Titanic. His Off-Broadway credits include Zombie Prom, The Cocoanuts, The Fantasticks and The Human Comedy. Roland's TV work includes "All My Children," "As the World Turns," "The Howie Mandel Show" and "Mike & Matty."
