Following the Broadway production of John Lithgow: Stories by Heart earlier this year, Roundabout Theatre Company will honor Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe Award winner John Lithgow at its 2019 Gala. Lithgow will be presented with yhe Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre February 25, 2019.

More details on the gala, including guests set to perform and a creative team for the evening, will be announced at a later date.

The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre is named after the late Jason Robards for his longstanding relationship with Roundabout and body of stage work. The honor is given to those who have made an impact on both Roundabout and the theatre community.

Lithgow is a two-time Tony winner for his performances in Sweet Smell of Success and The Changing Room. He also earned Oscar nominations forTerms of Endearment and The World According to Garp. Prior to the Broadway premiere of Stories by Heart, the actor was last seen on Broadway in 2014 opposite Glenn Close in Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance.

Stories by Heart was produced by Roundabout at the American Airlines beginning December 21, 2017. The monologue in two acts, inspired by his personal life and career, was written and performed by Lithgow with direction Daniel Sullivan. The limited engagement ran through March 4.
