In New York, the Great Performances presentation can be seen on Thirteen/WNET, on December 22 at 9 p.m. and December 25 at 1 p.m. Check local listings for broadcasts elsewhere.

Peter Wright's 1999 revision of the classic ballet took advantage of the renovated and enlarged Royal Opera House, with a spectacular transformation scene. The staging stars Ivan Putrov as the Nutcracker, Miyako Yoshida as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Alina Cojocaru as Clara, and the company's director, Anthony Dowell, as Herr Drosselmeyer.
