Alistair Mackie has been selected as the new Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) in Glasgow. He comes from London's Philharmonia Orchestra, where he worked as Interim Managing Director from August 2016 to March 2017, and has been a member since 1996. Most recently, he served as Joint Principal Trumpet, and was the Philharmonia Chair twice from 2005 to 2011, and for a third term in January 2016.

Mackie will work closely with RSNO's Music Director Thomas Søndergård, and will start the role in April 2019. The position is a result of an international search, and will combine professional leadership of a large arts institution with a broad background in music.

Said Mackie in a statement, “I consider myself privileged to be joining the RSNO community at this time and look forward to working with such an exceptionally talented group of people.”
