News Rude Mechanicals' Get Your War On Begins at 59E59 Jan. 9 The Austin, TX-based Rude Mechanicals' new work Get Your War On — which is part of the Public Theater's Under the Radar festival — begins Jan. 9 at 59E59 Theatres.

The play is adapted from David Rees' internet and Rolling Stone Magazine comic "Get Your War On." The chief adaptor is Kirk Lynn, a founder and co-producing artistic director of the company. Shawn Sides, also a founder and co-producing artistic director, directs. Opening is Jan. 11.

According to a release, the show "spits its way through six years of disappointment, shock, and awe at the sins of the current administration, exhuming images of pop culture and politics already lost in our collective short-term memory. With five actors, some microphones, and old-school overhead projectors, Get Your War On represents stunned and outraged Americans as they react to 9/11, the Bush administration, and its 'totally awesome' War on Terror."

The cast includes Ron Berry, Jason Liebrecht, Lana Lesley, Kirk Lynn and Sarah E. Richardson. The production features lighting design by Brian Scott, costume design by Laura Cannon, sound design by Robert S. Fisher and scenic design by Leilah Stewart.

Get Your War On has gone up at the Live Arts Festival in Philadelphia; Diverse Works in Houston, TX; Woolly Mammoth in Washington, DC; and Ballroom Marfa in Marfa, TX.

Rude Mechanicals is an ensemble theatre company that has produced 25 shows since 1995, and is known for Off-Broadway's Lipstick Traces. Lynn's latest work, Major Bang, was produced by The Foundry Theatre at St. Ann's last season. Sides has conceived and/or directed 13 of Rude Mechanicals’ original productions. The Under the Radar festival officially begins Jan. 17 and runs through Jan. 28. For more information, visit www.undertheradarfestival.com.
