After playing Ophelia in the National Theatre's 2010 production of Hamlet, Oscar-nominated actor Ruth Negga (Loving) will take on the title role in Dublin's Gate Theatre's upcoming fall production of the classic tragedy. Yaël Farber will direct Shakespeare's Hamlet as part of the 2018 Dublin Theatre Festival.

Negga was also seen in the National’s Phedre alongside Helen Mirren. She is an Oscar and Golden Globe nominee for her portrayal of Mildred Loving in the 2016 film Loving. Her other credits include the TV series Preacher, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Secret State, Love/Hate, and more.

The cast of Hamlet will also feature Fiona Bell, Gavin Drea, Nick Dunning , Aoife Duffin, Mark Huberman, Gerard Kelly, Conor Madden, Barry McKiernan, Owen Roe, and Gerard Walsh.

Performances will run September 21–October 27.

The design team will include Tony-winning set and costume designer Susan Hilferty, lighting designer Paul Keogan, composer Tom Lane, and textual consultant Ben Power.
