News Ruthie Henshall Will Be Billy Elliot's New Dance Teacher in London Ruthie Henshall, the Olivier Award-winning West End star who has also appeared on Broadway in Miss Saigon, Chicago (as both Roxie Hart, which she originated in the West End, and Velma Kelly) and Putting it Together, is to join the West End cast of Billy Elliot beginning performances May 12 at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

Also joining the cast then are Chris Grahamson (who will play Billy's brother Tony) and Barnaby Meredith (who returns to play Older Billy). Ann Emery will continue to play Grandma, a role she created on stage when the show premiered in 2005, and Deka Walmsley will continue as Billy's dad.

Henshall, who will play Billy’s dance teacher Mrs. Wilkinson, is currently touring the U.K. with her show An Intimate Evening with Ruthie Henshall. She has also appeared in the West End in The Woman in White, Peggy Sue Got Married, Marguerite, Les Misérables, Oliver, Crazy for You, Cats and Miss Saigon. She won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for She Loves Me. She was last on the West End stage in Thea Sharrock’s production of Blithe Spirit at the Apollo Theatre.

As a recording artist, she has been featured on numerous cast recordings, compilation albums and solo albums, including "Pilgrim," "The Ruthie Henshall Album," "Love is Here to Stay" and "I’ve Loved These Days." TV credits include "The Case," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Sound of Musicals," "Law and Order," "The Mysteries of 71st Street." She was a judge on ITV's "Dancing on Ice."
